2nd eLEANOR Workshop and HydroEurope PDF Print E-mail

2nd eLEANOR Dissemination Workshop

organized within the

face-to-face activities

Sophia Antipolis (FR), 23rd and 27th of February 2012

Hydro-Europe is an Intensive Programme within the Socrates/Erasmus framework, initiated by:

  1. Université de Nice - Sophia Antipolis (France) and associated with six partners:
  2. Brandenburg University of Technology at Cottbus (Germany)
  3. Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain)
  4. Newcastle University (UK)
  5. Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland)
  6. Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium)

HydroEurope is dedicated to the students involved in several master degrees specialized on the water management and the hydro-technologies. The objectives of HydroEurope are to promote, in a global European vision, the key concepts, the methodologies, the tools and the good practices which are today essential for a sustainable water management. Today, the problems related to water are more and more complex and must be analyzed in a global way and with the right tools. The sophistication of the situations imposes to reconsider the way of working: new practices, new tools, new technologies and new ways of collaboration.
The seven partners of HydroEurope have decided to introduce this new concept into each local university program. They complement academic teaching and collaboration on exercises through the Internet by a 2 week phase of face-to-face meeting of all students and teachers in one place. During this time, gained experience will be exchanged and personal contacts will be established and deepened.
For the current academic year (2011 – 2012), the HydroEurope face-to-face activities are scheduled from 13thto 24th of February at Polytech’Nice Sophia.

The 2nd eLEANOR Workshop is scheduled as following:

  • On the 23rd of February, on the occasion of the HydroEurope face-to-face activities, a first dissemination will be done to all participants.
  • On the 27th of February, a second and more detailed dissemination will be done to Euroaquae students.

The workshop is aimed, at first, to introduce and disseminate the eLEANOR Project in the EU water community (academics and future engineers in the water sector). Secondly, the workshop also presents an occasion to disseminate the training activities done at business level within industrial partners.

The agenda of eLEANOR workshop will be:

  • 23rd February, 1400h:  General presentation of the eLEANOR Project to the HydroEurope participants (students and their supervisors) from industrial partners. Feedbacks on the investigated training needs will be collected as a further validation of the analysis carried out;
  • 27th February:  Presentation of the eLEANOR Project and presentation of the Job Profiles and Business Processes in the water sector, as well as the Training Catalogue to the EuroAquae students.

INSPIRE Conference 2012 PDF Print E-mail

INSPIRE Conference 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey

Call for papers

The INSPIRE Conference 2012 will be held in June 23-27, 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey. The theme of this year's edition is "Sharing Environmental Information, Sharing Innovation".

With the introduction of the INSPIRE Directive 2007/2, the policy landscape for sharing environmental information has changed drastically. The Commission Communication on the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS 2008) and follow-up activities at national and European levels have further helped to cultivate a new vision for a coordinated framework for the implementation and monitoring of environmental policies. The governance, content, and supporting technologies are the three pillars with which this vision can be consolidated and implemented.

The aim of this year's INSPIRE Conference is therefore to look at how innovations in these three areas have further shaped the landscape of sharing environmental information. The technical program will feature keynote addresses, workshops, panels in addition to presentations  and posters. The call for contributions reflects the three pillars: Governance, Content and Technologies. In particular, as 2012 is the European Year for Water, the ISPIRE Team is interested in receiving submissions relating to Water (Water Framework Directive, Plan Bleu, EEA Water Watch, Blue Carbon…)

March 2, 2012: Deadline for submitting paper and workshops proposals

March 16 2012: Deadline for submitting poster proposals

April 30, 2012: Deadline for Early Registration fee

May 31, 2012: Deadline for full papers to be submitted for peer review for IJSDIR
